Generate Your First Content
Create AI-powered content ideas and drafts that match your brand voice.
With your brand profile set up, you are ready to generate content. Brandmanna's Generate page offers three ways to get started — write your own brief, let AI suggest topics, or draw inspiration from external content. Pick your platforms, and the AI creates ideas and drafts tailored to your brand.
The Content Generation Flow
Step 1: Choose How to Start
Go to the Generate page from the main navigation. The Brief section has three tabs:
Write (default) — Type your own brief describing what you want to create. This can be a topic, an announcement, a question, or a trend you want to comment on. Optionally select a content pillar to focus the AI on a specific theme.
Spark — Not sure what to post? Click the Spark tab and hit "Suggest Topics". The AI uses your brand profile, industry, and real-time Google Search to suggest 5 relevant topics. Click any suggestion to use it as your brief. Spark is free — it does not consume generation credits.
Inspire — Have an article, blog post, or competitor content you want to riff on? Paste a URL or the text itself, and the AI will extract the key themes and generate original, brand-aligned ideas from it.
Tips for writing a good brief:
- Be specific. "Tips for first-time homebuyers in spring 2026" will produce better results than "real estate tips."
- Mention your angle or goal. "Announce our new pricing with a focus on value for small teams" gives the AI clear direction.
- Include context when relevant. "We just launched feature X and want to drive sign-ups" helps the AI craft appropriate CTAs.
- If you have a content pillar that fits, select it. The AI will align the ideas with that pillar's theme and guidelines.
- If you are managing a brand outside your own expertise, try Spark first — it suggests industry-relevant topics without requiring domain knowledge.
Step 2: Choose Your Platforms
Select one or more target platforms for your content. Each platform has its own format, character limits, and best practices, and the AI adapts accordingly:
| Platform | Character Limit | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| 3,000 chars | Professional insights, thought leadership | |
| 2,200 chars | Visual storytelling, lifestyle content | |
| Twitter/X | 280 chars | Quick takes, news, commentary |
| 3,000 chars | Community engagement, longer updates | |
| Blog | Unlimited | In-depth articles, SEO content |
| LinkedIn Carousel | 300 chars/slide (10 slides) | Step-by-step guides, listicles (Creator+) |
| Landing Page | Unlimited | Marketing pages, product features (Creator+) |
| Newsletter | Unlimited | Email content, round-ups (Creator+) |
You can select multiple platforms at once. The AI generates platform-specific ideas for each one.
Step 3: Set Your Tone and Content Style
Before generating, you can optionally adjust two settings:
Tone — Override or refine the default tone from your brand profile for this specific generation. For example, you might want a more casual tone for an Instagram post even if your brand tone is generally formal.
Content Style — Choose how the AI structures your content. There are three options:
- Narrative: Story-driven, flowing prose with conversational hooks. Reads like a story or conversation with no bullet lists. Best for personal stories, thought leadership essays, and brand narratives.
- Structured: Scannable format with numbered lists, bullet points, concise headers, and clear CTA-first layout. Best for how-to guides, tips, and educational content.
- Hybrid (default): Balances both approaches. Opens with a hook sentence, follows with bullet points or key takeaways, then closes with a conversational sign-off. Works well for most general-purpose content.
Step 4: Generate Ideas
- Click "Generate Ideas".
- The AI generates 5-10 platform-specific content ideas, each with:
- A title and content angle
- A suggested CTA (call to action)
- Recommended hashtags
- A confidence score indicating how well the idea aligns with your brand
Step 5: Review Your Ideas
Before creating drafts, take a moment to review what the AI generated:
- Scan the titles and angles to find ideas that match your goals.
- Check confidence scores — higher scores mean stronger brand alignment.
- Click "Why this idea?" on any idea to expand the reasoning panel. This shows the AI's step-by-step logic: why it chose this angle, what brand context it used, and how the idea aligns with your pillars and messaging. This is useful for understanding the AI's thinking and deciding which ideas to keep.
You do not have to use every idea. Select the ones you want and skip the rest. You can also bank ideas for later from the Idea Bank.
Step 6: Create Drafts
- Select the ideas you want to turn into full drafts by clicking on them.
- Click "Create Drafts".
- The AI generates a complete draft for each selected idea, including:
- Fully formatted text adapted to the target platform
- Hashtags and a CTA
- An image prompt for AI image generation
- An AI quality indicator showing hook strength, CTA confidence, and content analysis
Your drafts appear on the Content page, ready for editing, refinement, and publishing.
Working with Your Drafts
Once your drafts are created, you can refine and enhance them:
Edit and Refine
Open any draft to edit the text directly. For AI-assisted refinement, use the Quick Refine menu, which offers six refinement modes:
- Improve Clarity — Tighten the language and improve readability
- Make Shorter — Condense the content while keeping the key message
- Make Longer — Expand with more detail and supporting points
- More Engaging — Add hooks, stronger language, and better flow
- More Professional — Elevate the tone for business audiences
- More Emotional — Add warmth, empathy, or urgency
There is also a Custom option where you can describe exactly how you want the draft refined.
Adapt to Another Platform
Use Platform Adaptation to transform a draft from one platform format to another. For example, turn a LinkedIn post into a Twitter thread or an Instagram caption. The AI reformats the content to fit the new platform's constraints and conventions.
Add Images
You can attach images to any draft in three ways:
- Upload your own image
- Generate with AI — creates a brand-aligned image based on the draft content
- Select from your library — choose from previously uploaded or generated images
Schedule or Publish
When your draft is ready:
- Publish immediately to a connected social account
- Schedule for a future date and time (with timezone support)
See Connect Your Social Accounts to set up publishing.
Export Your Drafts
If you are not ready to publish directly, you can export your drafts in several formats:
- Copy All (Ready to Post) — Copies the full text, CTA, and hashtags to your clipboard for pasting into any platform
- Copy as Markdown — Includes frontmatter metadata for CMS tools
- Export to Google Docs — Creates a Google Doc with your content (requires Google OAuth login)
- Design Brief for Canva — AI-generates visual design instructions including canvas size, layout, color guidance, and typography suggestions
- Download as PDF — For LinkedIn Carousel drafts, exports slides as branded 1080x1350 px pages
- Email Draft — Opens your email client with the draft pre-loaded
See Export for full details on all export options.
The Idea Bank
Not every idea needs to become a draft right away. The Idea Bank lets you save ideas for later:
- Bank ideas you like but are not ready to use yet
- Dismiss ideas you do not want
- Filter by platform, pillar, status, or confidence score
- Convert any banked idea to a draft whenever you are ready
The Idea Bank is a good way to build up a content backlog so you always have ideas ready to go.
