Content Plans
Organize your content strategy with campaigns, recurring cadences, and editorial calendars.
Content Plans let you organize your content strategy into structured, multi-draft campaigns. Instead of generating posts one at a time, you define a plan — its type, timeline, platforms, and themes — and the AI generates themed content packs distributed across your schedule.
Plan Types
Brandmanna supports three plan types, each designed for a different content strategy:
Campaign
A time-bound content push with a defined start and end date. Use campaigns for product launches, seasonal pushes, themed sprints, or any initiative with a clear timeline.
Recurring
An ongoing cadence like "3 LinkedIn posts per week". Recurring plans are built for steady-state content production — consistent posting without a fixed end point.
Editorial Calendar
A month-at-a-glance topic skeleton. Map out themes week by week, then batch-generate content for each. Ideal for planning content at a high level before filling in the details.
Creating a Plan
- Go to the Plans page and click "+ Create Your First Plan" (or "New Plan" if you already have plans)
- Pick a template or start blank:
- 4-Week Product Launch — a campaign template for launch sequences
- Weekly LinkedIn Cadence — a recurring template for consistent LinkedIn posting
- Monthly Editorial Calendar — an editorial template for month-level planning
- 12-Week Agency Campaign — a longer campaign template for agency use
- Choose your plan type (Campaign, Recurring, or Editorial Calendar)
- Select a brand, date range, and cadence (posting frequency and publish days)
- Choose your target platforms and themes
- Optionally click "Generate with AI" to auto-write a strategy brief
- Click "Generate Plan" — the AI creates content packs distributed across your timeline
Auto-Generate on Create
Check "Also generate content for all packs" when creating a plan to have the AI create packs and generate all content (ideas and drafts) in a single flow. This takes 1-2 minutes but saves you from generating content for each pack individually.
Content Packs
Each plan is made up of content packs — groups of related deliverables organized around a single topic.
Every pack includes:
- Theme — the topic or angle for this group of content
- Target publish date — when the content should go live
- Audience spec — who this content is targeting
- Creative brief — guidance for the AI when generating content
- Approval status — pending, in_review, approved, or rejected
Click "Generate Content" on any pack to generate ideas and drafts for that pack in one step.
Smart Pack Sizing
The UI adapts based on how many platforms your plan targets:
- Single-platform plans (e.g., LinkedIn only) show packs as simple posts in a flat list
- Multi-platform plans show full pack cards with grouped drafts organized by platform
This is the same data model with an adaptive interface — single-platform plans feel lightweight, while multi-platform plans show the full organizational structure.
How Recurring Plans Distribute Packs
When you set a cadence like "3x/week on Mon/Wed/Fri", the system calculates the total number of packs automatically. For example:
- 3 posts per week for 4 weeks = 12 packs
- Each pack gets a target publish date on the specified days
- Dates start from the plan's start date and distribute evenly across the timeline
The Plan Journey
A guided banner at the top of each plan shows your progress through four steps:
Step 1: Generate Packs
The AI creates themed packs distributed across your timeline based on your plan settings.
Step 2: Generate All Content
One-click generates ideas and drafts for all empty packs. You can also generate content for individual packs.
Step 3: Review and Approve
Review each pack's content, send packs for external review if needed, and approve drafts that are ready.
Step 4: Schedule
Batch schedule all approved packs to their target publish dates.
External Review Workflow
Send any pack with content for external review — the reviewer does not need a Brandmanna account:
- Click "Send for Review" on a pack card
- Enter the reviewer's email and an optional message
- The reviewer receives a magic link via email
- They can view all drafts in the pack and either Approve or Request Changes
- You receive an email notification when they respond
- The pack status updates to approved or rejected accordingly
This makes it easy to get sign-off from clients, stakeholders, or team members who are not Brandmanna users.
Plan Detail Page
Each plan has a detail page with two tabs:
Calendar Tab
A month view showing packs on their target dates with visual status indicators:
- Grey dots — no content generated yet
- Amber dots — content pending review
- Green dots — approved content
- Clock icons — scheduled content
Packs Tab
A card list of all packs with:
- Pack approval progress bar — visual overview of how many packs are approved
- Status filter pills — All, Needs Content, In Review, Approved
- Bulk approve — approve multiple packs at once
- Expandable draft previews showing the first 150 characters of each draft
- "Open in Editor" link to edit drafts directly
Batch Scheduling
Once your packs are approved, use batch scheduling to schedule all content at once:
- Go to the plan's detail page
- Complete Step 4 of the Plan Journey ("Schedule")
- All approved packs are scheduled to their target publish dates
Plan content also appears on the main Content Calendar alongside standalone drafts, so you can see your full publishing schedule in one place.
